The moon is 2% full tonight, I am not even going to bother. Next time, always check the calendar before asking people to take pics of the moon :-)

80: Before and After.

The left shot was taken sometime in 1999 with a Nikon N60, 50mm/f1.8 Nikkor and Kodak Plus-125 B&W film. I developed it manually and scanned it.

The right shot was taken today with a Sony DSC-HX100V and a circular polarizer filter.

74: Clouds

The sky today is a flat, bright slab of blue, the only thing close to a cloud anywhere is the contrails from the Dulles airport traffic.

This was shot handheld at the maximum zoom range, 820mm, and with a circular polarizer.

69: Red

It is almost impossible to take a photo of a can without some kind of polarizer filter. It took me 20 shots just to get the can lit properly without any reflections showing on it. With a polarizer filter I could have probably done it in half as many tries.

I am starting to feel a lot of respect for anyone that makes a living doing product photography.

Is there anyone out there that doesn't have at least one smartphone charger plugged by the bed? I always have either a phone or a Kindle plugged in there.

61: Up.

061: Up. by pvera
061: Up., a photo by pvera on Flickr.
This is a tetra-whammy:

  1. Shot at the "up" setting for my zoom lens, 810mm (35mm equivalent). This was shot from about 10-15 yards away.
  2. Shot upwards into a balcony, a couple of floors above ours.
  3. 68 freaking degrees on March First? Are you kidding me?
  4. It's HDR'd, so the dynamic range is "up" too :-)

Most of the dial was in the shade, the fade that you see on the clock is not the photo, the thermometer is really old and is very faded.

I will be following FAT MUM SLIM's list of topics for the month:
